Lots of residents in the US know a little bit about Cinco de Mayo. Some even celebrate it each year in one way or another. There are many who do not understand its history, however. If you were to ask an average American about why Cinco de Mayo is celebrated, they will likely guess it is Mexican Independence Day. That is not right. Mexican Independence Day falls on September 16.

On almost every platter served at Mexican restaurants, you will see a generous helping of Mexican rice. This tomato laden rice is a common side dish in restaurants, and it is a staple in Mexican cuisine. It has not always been this way, however. Rice is not native to Mexico. When the Spanish discovered that rice would grow well in the Veracruz region, it became integrated into Mexican cuisine.

Becoming thin is a resolution each year for many. It can be hard to achieve. However, it is possible with discipline and extra work. Trying Paleo recipes are a great start. They are chock filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats and seafoods. A Paleo diet is high in fiber, vitamins and minerals. It has a lot of antioxidants and omega-3s. Overall it is a very healthy way to eat.

If you are on a diet, you want to make sure you are following a safe diet plan that lets you eat foods from each food group and does not severely restrict your calories. There are some food items that that will reduce the accumulation of fat. Amongst them oatmeal comes first. Having oatmeal for breakfast is particularly effective to lose stomach fat. It will stay in our stomach for long time and prevents us from taking crunch diets and convenience food between meals. Next in the list are nuts and whole grains. They contain fiber and correct amount of carbs.

Many of dieters are annoyed and frustrated with dieting and weight loss in general because it includes side effects. With side effects I mean hunger, refusing foods you like, low energy levels and sense of unhappiness.
